Located in Brussels, Belgium, NEMO33 is officially the Deepest Pool in the World with a depth of 108 feet. The complex was designed by Belgian diving expert John Beernaerts as a multi-purpose diving instruction, recreational, and film production facility, and opened in 2004.

The pool is filled with 660,430 gallons of non-chlorinated, highly filtered spring water.

“The water that fills the pool comes from a spa and it’s heated by solar panels to keep it nice and warm.”

Imagine jumping in to a pool minus the chlorine smell. The temperature is  maintained at 86°F and contains several simulated underwater caves at the 32 foot depth level. At this level there underwater windows that allow outside visitors to peer into the pools at various depths. The pool is a big hit with recreational scuba divers who are able to enjoy the constant controlled atmosphere and water temperature for varying levels of instruction. The pool has two large basin areas at depth levels of 16 ft and 32 ft, and a large circular shaft descending to a depth of 33m (108 ft). There are three permanent bells of air under pressure where air is renewed constantly, this aids instructors to spend more time with students at depth.

It all Started in 1986 and was itheld the first weekend after Halloween, this event is the World Championship pumpkin-throwing contest. Approximately 100 competing teams construct and fire a variety of pumpkin-launching devices, including catapults, trebuchets, centrifugal machines and pneumatic air cannons. Currently, the longest distances have been in excess of 4,400 feet, fired from pneumatic air cannons. Each launcher gets the best of three shots, with duds (pumpkin pie in the sky) counting as zero feet. Launchers typically hurl white pumpkins because they can better withstand the forces of launch than the orange ones. Officials mark each chunk with a small, color coded flag. Other event higlights include a carnival area with amusement rides and food vendors and a cooking contest, where locals can enter their favorite pumpkin recipes.

The roll-in is 180 feet

The roll-in is 180 feet

For Bob Burnquist and the 75 foot high ramp he built to be the largest skateboard ramp in the world, the sky is the limit. Bob built this mega ramp on his property just East of Oceanside, CA.

“…Speeding down a 180-foot-long roll-in to a ramp that launches them across a 70-foot gap with trapeze netting below. Landing on a 27-foot sloped section, they then boost up to 50 feet above the ground from a 30-foot quarterpipe. A shorter route begins with a 55-foot-tall platform leading to a 50-foot gap, and the 30-foot quarterpipe.”

“That mind-set helps on the Mega Ramp, where skaters reach speeds of up to 55 miles an hour and soar like stuntmen.”
