it’s a triop - in fact no more than about 3cm in length - look closely at the photo - that’s not a drain cover, it’s a piece of plastic, and the water droplets is of the wrong scale.

still cool though - triops are fascinating/disgusting in equal measure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triop

You can get triops kits to grow them at home, like the old brine shrimp “Sea Monkey” kits. I think we’ve gotten them at Target, but just call around or search Google Maps to find somewhere near you that sells them.

Or you can order them online. The dried eggs keep well enough that they can just ship you an envelope of them. They’re cheap, too.

Here in indonesia we call it “mimi”, it similar to that but a little bit different tails…, we had a lot of that in our shore…
