At 2pm on August 3rd, what might be the largest stingray ever caught was wrangled in near Sanya Port Wharf in Hainan, China by Captain Wu. Weighing in at nearly a ton and a half, and about 8 meters in length, the stingray took almost 3 hours to pull in by fisherman with nets. The meat of the Giant stingray is an Asian delicacy, while rest of the stingray is valued for use in medicinal products.

That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Have you heard about the tiger temple? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Temple
Also awesome.

That is one scary looking thing. I would be totally freaked out if I saw that. The kid is nuts for getting on it! It is kind of sad that it was killed…but then again, we kill all kinds of animals every day…. Curt

I agree with Cycs! Why the F*ck do humans always need to kill stuff! If fisherman would accidently catch such a large creature they should let it go!
I think i would be very enthousiastic about going out and trying to find such a large ray, but i would shoot anyone who would try to kill it.. Same goes for people who aim for cats, dogs and rabbits while driving their car. I once saw a guy trying to hit a family of ducks (which are indeed in great numbers in my town). I followed him, took the lifehammer from my own car and his car “no windows”. A-hole!
